Olives
Green pitted olives polli
Olives are not a fruit, in actual fact, but a ‘drupe’, i.e. a kind of berry produced by the wonderful olive tree. Green olives, a food that has always been part of the Mediterranean people’s life, featuring prominently in their diet, are actually a food of the future: rich in minerals, olives have energetic and tonic properties, they stimulate the appetite and aid digestion.

Rich in phenols, they help prevent certain cardiovascular diseases and have a strong antioxidant power, therefore they are a remedy for body and skin stress.

A very splendid example of an excellent thing! Our olives come from Spain so they are picked at the end of summer, after taking in all the sun and light enhancing their chlorophyll, then they are processed when their colour is a fine natural green, which they retain until they are eaten. Because they are pitted, they are a super easy snack and aperitif, liked by all, and are perfect to cook fish stews, such as cod or hake fillet, or meat casseroles with fine vegetables. Perfect for an aperitif at home and to prepare deliciously flavoursome summer salads.
