Bring a pot of water with salt to the boil and boil the barley and spelt for about 35 minutes. When nearly done, add the garlic cloves to the pot and boil them for 1-2 minutes so they are still crunchy. If you like, you can add the garlic even after draining the grains. Drain, add 2 tablespoons of courgette pesto. Mix and serve!
